What do I do when I have to face my fears? My reactions range from curling up into a fetal position to stoically standing up to my fear and poking it in its eyes. I try to sort out bad things according to how dangerous they are and how likely they are to occur, and then decide how much I need to fear them. If I decide something is pretty bad, I'll try to find a way to lessen the badness, but if this can't be done, I'll try to find a way to avoid the thing.
Of course I can't avoid death - but I'm doing my best to dodge the Grim Reaper for as long as I can. Obviously getting older means getting closer to death, but I've found that getting older has made me stronger (mentally and emotionally stronger - physically, I'm beginning to fall apart! :)
I like looking at photos, especially of people since I can observe them without staring. I don't tend to take many photos (I also don't own a modern camera or a modern mobile phone with a camera).
You seem to be a very strong person - at least compared to me, and I appreciate/admire (argh, me English is bad) it. I often just freak and don't know what to do when I have to face my fears, but now you gave me something to think about. So, thank you!
About the photography, I like looking at portraits too. If the picture is interesting it's even better - I prefer interesting to pretty, most of the time. I do like taking pictures of people (but mostly I take pictures of cats). I upload my photos sometimes to a flickr account, would you like to see them? (I'm not trying to advertise myself or something, I've just taken some nice pictures yesterday and I'm enthusiastic)
I still freak out at times, but with less frequency than I used to.
